As a tourist from Sweden, my trip to Xi’an completely exceeded my expectations. Although I had previously been interested in Chinese history, standing in front of the Terracotta Warriors pit was truly awe-inspiring—the army from thousands of years ago was so vividly brought to life, as if it could awaken at any moment. Our guide was extremely professional, his explanations clear, and engaging, leaving me deeply captivated by the stories behind the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum.
Besides the Terracotta Warriors, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Tang Paradise also allowed me to appreciate the unique aesthetics of Eastern art and architecture. However, the most unforgettable experience was the Tang Night Market. That evening, I and several other tourists donned Tang Dynasty costumes and strolled through the brightly lit streets. Unexpectedly, we became the stars—enthusiastic locals constantly invited us for photos and even gave us free snacks! Xi’an snacks are incredibly diverse and completely different from those served in Swedish Chinese restaurants. I particularly enjoyed the blend of spicy and crispy flavors.
The night market was filled with dazzling performances. Although the crowds were overwhelming, after a few days, I gradually acclimated to the vibrant atmosphere found throughout China.
At the Shaanxi History Museum, I saw numerous artifacts dating back thousands of years. The tour guide explained that these treasures are so valuable they’re never allowed to be exhibited abroad. At that moment, I truly understood the meaning of “priceless treasures.”
I was extremely pleased with the itinerary—the service was attentive, and the hotels were a pleasant surprise. We stayed in five-star hotels throughout the trip, with impeccable facilities and service. Returning to our rooms each day was a delight. My only regret was that I didn’t join the other tourists in experiencing the nightlife at the local bars, opting instead for shopping. Next time I visit, I’ll definitely follow my guide’s advice and experience Xi’an’s unique bar scene!
